Sony Ericsson to preload NeoMedia barcode scanning app

Mobile barcode scanning solutions provider NeoMedia Technologies announced Sony Ericsson will begin shipping phones preloaded with the firm's NeoReader application. NeoReader--a universal barcode scanning application that reads all standard 1D and 2D barcode symbologies, including QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, UPC and EAN--will be preinstalled across all Sony Ericsson platforms worldwide beginning in the first half of 2010. The application transforms camera phones into scanners promising simplified access to mobile content via 2D barcodes, enabling users to scan barcodes instead of typing in URLs or navigating device menus.
