Spotlight: Google offers free Quickoffice iPad app to edit Office files


Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is offering its paying business customers a free version of its Quickoffice iPad app so that they can edit Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Office documents without converting them to Google Docs. With the app, users can open and edit Office files stored in Google Drive from an iPad. Google expects the app to be available for Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPhone and for Android users soon. The firm has also improved the conversion process from Office files to Google Docs. Google said it expects to announce more document conversion and mobile editing improvements next year. Read more
