Over 10 million iPhone owners downloaded Google Maps in the first 48 hours it was available for the smartphone. But iPhone users have to hang on to their faulty Apple-developed maps app because Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) will not let them delete the app, according to a report by the Daily Mail. On Friday, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) made the Google Maps iPhone app available on the Apple App store. Apple had taken Google Maps off of its iOS 6 operations system--launched earlier this year--and replaced it with an Apple-developed maps app, a disastrous decision that led to the firing of Scott Forstall, head of the iOS 6 development team.
