Sprint Zone attracts 13M customers every month

Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) revealed that its Sprint Zone account management application attracts 13 million customers every month, which is nearly 25 percent of the company's subscriber base. Sprint Zone, which debuted in 2011, offers a place where consumers can learn about Sprint's offers, check their data usage and monitor their account. 

This stat is just one of many tidbits that Fared Adib, senior vice president of product development & operations at Sprint Nextel, plans to talk about today at the company's Open Solutions Conference in San Jose, Calif., where Sprint is bringing together app developers, venture capitalists and other players in the Sprint ecosystem to learn more about the company's strategies.

Adib also said that Sprint has served more than 2 billion ad impressions so far. The company recently launched Pinsight Media+, with partner Amobee.  Pinsight Media+ is  a mobile advertising platform that enables brands to roll out campaigns targeted to subscribers' preferences and behaviors.

According to Adib, Sprint's subscribers that opt in to Pinsight Media+ targeting will see usage-based ads delivered according to their personal interests across operator-owned properties like the Sprint Web on-deck portal and Sprint Zone account management app, as well as third-party properties.  

Interestingly, Adib also noted that Sprint has deployed 4 million Near Field Commuinications-capable devices.
