Toshiba has unveiled a prototype of what the company calls a super charge ion battery (SCIB), a technology that purports to enable charging of drained electronic gadgets up to 90 percent battery capacity in just 10 minutes. No mention of eventual availability was announced though, and not much else is known about the SCIB, unveiled at CEATEC 2008 in Japan. Actually, I am not sure if this is entirely new technology here; I can distinctly remember consumer electronics such as portable disc players and "Walkmans" of yesteryear touting 10 minutes "fast charge" as one of their features. Having said that, I certainly won't mind something similar for my smartphone and laptop!
