Twitter for Android gets an extreme makeover

Twitter is rolling out a completely redesigned version of its social media app for Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android, available now to beta testers.

The retooled Twitter for Android scraps the tabbed layout of previous versions in favor of a translucent sliding panel menu along the left-hand side of the device screen, The Verge reports. In addition to columns for Home, Notifications, Messages and Me, the menu adds three new columns--Activity, Trending and Find People. Users may also reorder the menu to their specifications.

More than half of all Twitter users access the microblogging platform via mobile device. Article
