Twitter rolls out native app for Nokia Series 40 feature phones
Twitter released a new native application optimized for Nokia's (NYSE:NOK) Series 40 feature phones, promising much of same functionality integrated into its smartphone apps.
Twitter for Nokia enables Series 40 device owners to post their own tweets and follow others' feeds--an @Connect feature compiles mentions and new followers, while the #Discover feature helps identify interesting tweets from users across the globe. Twitter for Nokia is available as a free download from the Nokia Store--the handset maker adds it plans to pre-install the app on future Series 40 devices.
Twitter for Nokia helps expand the microblogging platform's footprint in emerging markets. As of January 2012, Nokia has sold 1.5 billion Series 40 devices worldwide.
