Web looks different through ZenZui
Microsoft is taking an approach to mobile website viewing that has at least two prongs. The browser approach is taken by Deepfish, the mobile browser just entering initial trials. The server prong is covered by ZenZui, a web server that uses a novel "petal" approach to create a web page that's mobile-device friendly. ZenZui, originally developed in the Microsoft Labs, is both a product and the company delivering it. The interface is based on petals that display portions of the complete website. The nature of the available petals is shaped by content decisions made on a personal computer. The decisions are reflected by the petals available on the mobile device. There are aspects of ZenZui that are likely to be controversial because of privacy concerns, but there is no controversy about making websites available to more mobile users--both providers and users think it's great.
