WiMax aimed at boosting productivity

The government of Lenexa, Kansas, is hoping that a new citywide pre-standard WiMax deployment, which will connect buildings and help track the city's truck fleet, will boost government staff productivity. According to CTO Michael Lawrence, the first phase, covering 10 miles, should be completed by month's end. The overall coverage will be 30 miles when the project is done. Lawrence says the combined mobile and fixed network should shave off two hours of work presently being done by city employees in the field.
