Zed, U.S. Cellular team for Ringback Radio
Regional operator U.S. Cellular is introducing Ringback Radio, a new music service enabling subscribers to access pre-selected ringbacks that refresh on a monthly basis.
Ringback Radio spans seven music genres including Pop, Hip-Hop, Country and Rock.
Launched by mobile entertainment provider Zed and available via U.S. Cellular's Tone Room Deluxe content storefront, Ringback Radio spans seven music genres including Pop, Hip-Hop, Country, Latin and Spiritual--each "station" features four new songs each month, enabling callers to discover different artists each time they dial the subscriber's mobile phone. Ringback Radio also will offer exclusive tones and pre-release content.
U.S. Cellular offers Ringback Radio to Tone Room Deluxe subscribers for $2.99 per month. The operator is also rolling out a Tone Room Deluxe application optimized for its seven current Android smartphones and available for download via Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android Market.
U.S. Cellular and Zed first launched Tone Room Deluxe in mid-2010. Powered by Zed's Master Content Service Provider platform, Tone Room Deluxe is accessible to subscribers via the mobile web, Brew and Android--consumers can purchase products à la carte or sign up for monthly ringtone and ringback subscriptions, with additional content offered at a discounted rate.
